We would like to thank Ben, our Thai friend who helped us answering these important questions about his country. Although the answers are narrowed to his opinion we did try to complement it with our own opinion with what we learned in our three month stay in Thailand.

What is Thailand´s National Dish? – It’s gotta be the Tom Yum Koong (Spicy and Sour soup with shrimp) and we would say Papaya Salad. Although Thai food is just over all overwhelming.

Which do you consider the National Favorite Sport? – Even though our friend Ben asnwered Soccer, we asked around and are almost convinced that the game Sepak Takraw is even more popular in Thailand than soccer. They have also gained a lot of recognition among the area for being the best. Another sport that is also worth mentioning is the good old Badminton.

Which would you say is the favorite soft drink in Thailand? – It used to be Pepsi but now Coke is neck to neck with Pepsi.

Music group loved by young and old? – Again, a debatable one. I’d say an artist named Bird Thongchai McIntyre. He was even famous in Laos. Annika and I also identified a very cool rock group called: Carabao that played with Santana when we played with Bangkok, very good band.

The latest and most popular movie made here? – On the top of my head, it’s gotta be that Chinese movie called ‘Lost in Thailand’. The film definitely brought in a lot of mainland Chinese tourists into Thailand.

Where would you consider to be the number one touristic destiny for Thais in Thailand? – Hard to say, I don’t wanna pinpoint it for all the Thais, but for Bangkokians, I’d argue it’s Huahin because it’s only around a 2-hour drive from Bangkok. Chiangmai in the north is quite popular with its White Temple . Khaoyai to the northeast of Bangkok is quite a crowd magnet.
