Time to move on

The Adrenalin Village Team

The Adrenalin Village Team grows and grows. So many new friends!

Tuesday, 3rd of April 2012
We have spent more than two months in Adrenalin Village now and it is time to move on. It ıs a week now since we have laft Fethiye. The winter seems to be over here, and also in Ankara where the temperature fell on -10°C just two weeks ago it is getting warmer.
As a traveler there are some evidences showing us that it may be time to move on.
1) We have a regular café and if only one of us goes there everybody asks for the other one
2) On the way to our regular café we have to
stop several times to say hello to acquaintances.
3) We gained weight again for the lack of cycling
4) We have bought and used three pieces of soap and know where to buy the cheapest one
5) The dogs got so used to us that they keep following us wherever we go
6) We cycle back home at night knowing how to avoid the potholes without lights
7) We do call it “home”

But we did not want to leave without throwing a party. On Saturday 24th we invited friends and strangers for Mexican music, live music, funny games, a quiz and salsa dancing. We hope to make a little money with that event because we will need some better equipment to better our articles and pictures.
So we were looking forward to being on the road again even though I knew that the first days would be the hardest, because we have to climb up more than 1000 meters and our cycling-muscles have slowly turned into fat.

There are a lot of things that we had the fortune to learn here, such as:

sanding wood, prepare Turkish Çay, cooking middle-good food with hardly any ingredients for humans (Roberto) and animals (Annika), plowing the garden, moving stones through the garden, building a bamboo wall, cutting bamboo, carpentering and repairing wooden things, painting street signs, cutting palm tree leaves, converting a grumpy snappy horse into a nice one (Annika), waiting tables and singing on stage (Roberto). Apart we have learned the Turkish words for nearly 20 different ingredients and know what horses / chicken / dogs / cats / our picky housemate Orkun can eat and – more important – what not. Apart we have learned to live with eight housemates. In the beginning it was only Emir, Eda and Orkun, now there are the ten of us sharing the kitchen, the internet and the speakers in the bar.

It is not always easy but it is a very interesting experience and we have made some really good friends here as well with housemates as with others as Vicky, the traveler from Hong Kong, and Alicia from Scotland and Jamaica who currently lives in Fethiye. Alicia is the director of Create.Change – an international arts media organization focused on social change, through the mediums of photo media, & mentoring.

She is always looking for interesting projects all over and seems to know everything about Social Media, photography, filming, directing and consultancy. She is a great photographer and has helped Roberto with many good tips. Our last days in Fethiye we have spent at her beautiful place.

On Monday 19th we have had our last working day. Since then we kept organizing our event. We spent our “off-days” finding sponsors, preparing games, playlists and recipes, practicing songs, shopping cheap food and game utensils and preparing pictures for sale and for the flyer.

The pig's tail game

Try to put the tail in the pig and win a price (also non-meat-prices) from the Pork Shop

Our event was great, we sold Mexican Burritos and German Pudding-Streuselkuchen, we danced, sang and played games and we were happy to meet many of our new friends again before we finally left Fethiye on Wednesday.
We are heading to Ankara now. The way was hilly and beautiful. We will keep you updated with more details soon.
