China is full of different ingredients. Depending on where you are you may be able to try several dishes, snacks and drinks. This is a selection of the dishes we have tried while traveling through China for nearly three months.

A lady sells roasted potatoes on the side of the highway in Yunnan, China. Customers can add salt, spicy sauce or stinky tofu to the potato. One potato costs 3 Yuan (0.50 $).

In Yibin, Southern Szechuan Province, we prepared our own noodle soup. First we filled a basket with all vegetables we wanted to add …

… and then one with the types of meat, sausages and other yet undefined ingredients. Everything will be fried and added to a bowl of noodle soup.

The big bowl of steamed rice is usually free in Chinese restaurants. Here we ate fried pork with vegetables in Zhaotong, Northern Yunnan.

In Chinese restaurants it is usual to show wealth by ordering far more dishes than necessary. In Kunming, Yunnan, we even had to staple them in the middle of the table.

I love to chew wine gums when I watch TV, wait for the bus or work. The Chinese love to chew Chicken feet instead.

The basic noodle soup can be spiced up with plenty of meat, vegetables, peanuts, spices and sauces. Soups are also eaten with chopsticks. In Kunming, Yunnan province.
